De La Soul Delays Album, Releases "For Your Pain & Suffering" EP
Originally slated to come out today, "And the Anonymous Nobody" gets pushed back to August.
Six months ago, De La Soul set the release date for their Kickstarter-funded album And the Anonymous Nobody: April 29th. This morning, the storied Queens trio announced that they are pushing back the release date to August 26.
“We have a lot of featured artists on this album," the group wrote in a letter to their 11,000 Kickstarter backers. "So with that being said, we have to get permission from their labels, and that takes a little bit of time. As well as our attorneys speaking with their attorneys and drawing up agreements and contracts,” they wrote.
They also announced that they would release their first single, "Pain" feat. Snoop Dogg this summer.

Rachel Roy Releases Statement, Denies Being "Becky With The Good Hair"
Rachel Roy releases a statement about the rumors that she is "Becky with the good hair."
Beyonce turned the internet upside down when it turned out LEMONADE was actually an entirely new (visual) album from the pop star. That was the only thing getting the internet topsy-turvy, the fact that Beyonce alleges that her husband Jay Z cheated on her in the album created in even more controversy, putting the BeyHive to work in attempt to locate "Becky with the good hair."
It just so happened on the same night Beyonce dropped, Rachel Roy posted an Instagram photo with a caption touting her "good hair"-- the BeyHive quickly attacked, and even mistakenly attacked another Rachael, Rachael Ray. More recently, the BeyHive has set their sights on Rita Ora, who was seen Snapchatting with a necklace that held the initial 'J' (her Instagram is now being inundated with the bee and lemonade emoji).
Now Rachel Roy has come forward to officially deny that she is "Becky with the good hair." Talking with People, Roy said, "I want to put the speculation and rumors to rest. My Instagram post was meant to be fun and lighthearted, it was misunderstood as something other than that," she said. "There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally. There is no truth to the rumors."

Prince Sells Over 250,000 Albums On Day Of His Death, Takes No. 1 & 2 On Billboard 200
Prince sold enough albums on the day of his death to take the top two spots on this week's Billboard 200 chart.
Music fans everywhere are still in shambles in the wake of the shocking loss of Prince, who was found dead in his Minnesota estate on Thursday morning (Apr. 21). It is a testament to his far-reaching talent that the late icon has taken the top two spots on this week's Billboard 200 chart. According to Billboard, a greatest hits compilation of his, The Very Best of Prince, sold a reported 179,000 copies, claiming the No. 1 spot, and Prince's 1984 album Purple Rain took No. 2, selling 69,000 copies.
Keep in mind that this week's chart accounts for the albums sold throughout the week of April 15 to April 21. That means the vast majority of those sales (248,000 in total) occurred on the same day as Prince's death. On April 21, his total album sales (The Hits/The B-Sides also landed at No. 6) amount to 256,000. There is likely still a massive influx in Prince's album sales that hasn't been accounted for, so expect those same albums to appear near the top of the albums chart next week as well.
What's also incredible about Prince's posthumous album sales is that the majority of them they are just that -- pure album sales. On April 21, Purple Rain sold an actual 63,000 copies and The Very Best of Prince moved an approximate 100,000 in pure sales. The only online outlet that has made a large portion of Prince's discography available for streaming is Tidal. Thus, the numbers not included in pure album sales can mostly be credited to Tidal, which must be sitting pretty considering the surprise release of Beyonce's Lemonade.

Kodak Black Charged With Weapons, Drugs & More After High-Speed Police Chase
Police have confirmed details of yesterday's arrest of Kodak Black. A high-speed car chase ensued after police had seen Kodak amid an alleged drug deal.
Photos as well as footage of Kodak Black (real name Dieuson Octave) being handcuffed and put in the back of a police SUV surfaced yesterday, though the charges against him were unknown. It has now been confirmed that the South Florida rapper was arrested yesterday in his native Broward County for possession of weapons by a convicted felon as well as possession of cannabis. He also faces additional charges of fleeing a Law Enforcement Officer at a high speed as well as disobeying traffic devices.
Speaking to Miami news outlet WPLG Local, police reported that they originally spotted Kodak involved in a suspected drug deal with two other men. When police approached, Kodak and another man, Wisdom Williams, were able to drive away from the scene. A high-speed pursuit ensued, during which Kodak reportedly sped through multiple red lights.
The chase ended when Kodak parked his car at 2017 Jackson St. in the town of Hollywood, where police saw him discarding a firearm into a nearby dumpster.
Police reported that Kodak and Williams were both uncooperative during the arrest and that their vehicle smelled strongly of marijuana. The amount of cannabis police were able to find is unknown except for that it was less than 20 grams. When police searched the dumpster, they discovered a loaded Glock 23 pistol as well as a 30-round magazine round of ammunition.
As Kodak had been previously convicted on a kidnapping charge, he has been charged as a felon for possessing a weapon

Lil Wayne Receives The Key To Lafayette, Louisiana
Lil Wayne receives the key to Lafayette, Louisiana.
Move over Drake & Kendrick Lamar, you two aren’t the only rap superstars to receive a key to your hometown cities states. Last night before taking the stage for his Tidal exclusive event at the Cajundome, Lil Wayne was given the key to the city of Lafayette, Louisiana by Mayor Joel Robideaux.
“We appreciate what you and TIDAL have done on behalf of the philanthropic efforts and we’re so proud of our Ragin’ Cajuns, Alpha Phi Alpha, for what they did and we want to present to you a very special key to the city that we made specifically for you,” said Robideaux.
As giddy as can be, Tunechi accepted the key by putting the one-of-a-kind necklace around his neck, saying he “made it.” He then grabbed the mic and proceeded to take the stage for UL Lafayette students as part of TIDAL’s initiative Social Wave for Change, which rewards college students for their community service.

Laced with 6 tracks in total, the follow up to last month’s Hotels 2 features guest appearances from the likes of The Game, Wiz Khalifa, Bad Lucc, Buddy, and more. Speaking with Shade 45’s Rude Jude, Problem had the following to say about linking up the legendary DJ for this project…
“It’s a dream come true for me. He allowed me to be the ‘me’ that I am on the project and actually produce with him. It was crazy to watch him mix and master, and just the instrumentation that we used on the project, it was just crazy. The fact that we wasn’t trying to make a project and this kind of just happened made it even more beautiful. This is just something big for the city and something for both of us to just throw out for the people.” - Problem

Three More Men Accuse Afrika Bambaataa Of Sexual Abuse
Ronald Savage's claims have encouraged three more alleged victims to come forward.
A few weeks ago, a man by the name of Ronald Savage came forward with a sexual abuse accusation levelled against hip-hop pioneer Afrika Bambaataa, sharing that the musician molested him over 30 years ago at the age of 15. Shortly thereafter, he told his story in painful detail, and while Bambaataa has disputed the claims, three more men have now emerged with similar accusations.
Hassan Campbell, who is now 39, recalls being abused "numerous" times between the age of 12 and 13, reporting to the New York Daily News. "He had the most fun house in the world," said Campbell, who stayed with Bambaataa when he was experiencing trouble at home. "There were celebrities there, musicians, neighborhood heroes. It was the best place to be - and the worst place to be."
"He is a pervert," Campbell said. "He likes little boys."
Another man, who agreed to speak to the NYDN, but requested his name be kept private, says, "I know what Ronald Savage is saying is true because he did it to me. I have never spoken to anybody about this and when I did, I said 'Holy s---, they finally caught up to him.'"
Bambaataa's attorney reportedly denied to comment on the new allegations when asked by the New York Daily News.

Tory Lanez Declines XXL Freshman Cover Spot
Though he got an offer, Tory Lanez will not be a member of this year's Freshman class.
There is much buzz about the rap world regarding the 10 rappers who will appear on this year's XXL Freshman cover. The HNHH staff recently shared its opinions on those most deserving of the honor and put forth a list that includes talents like G Herbo, Jazz Cartier, and Tory Lanez, the latter whom it seems has been a contender for a few years now. Regardless, the self-proclaimed face of the New Toronto is bigger now than ever before, but as of today, Lanez himself has confirmed that he will NOT be pictured among the 2016 crop of Freshman.
"I passed on the XXL cover. Don't b confused," wrote Lanez today on Twitter, officially joining the ranks of his Toronto neighbors Drake and PartyNextDoor as artists who have turned down a spot on the Freshman cover. Last year's Freshman issue came out at the beginning of June, so chances are that XXL has already started to narrow down the guys and/or girls who will be a part of this year's Freshman class. And if Lanez' tweet is to be believed, XXL offered him a cover spot, which he apparently declined.

Kanye West Debuts New Song, Performs "Pop Style" For First Time
Watch Kanye West perform new song "I Don't Want To Be Liked" and Drake's "Pop Style" in Manila.
Several videos have appeared from Kanye West's first show of 2016 at the Paradise International Music Festival in the Philippines. Now, more footage from the performance has surfaced, including the debut of a never-before-heard take on "Runaway" titled (on YouTube) "I Don't Want To Be Liked." The song features some auto-tune warbling from Kanye over gospel piano. "I would rather follow God than the media," he sings.
Also of note: a performance of his new collaboration with Drake and Jay Z "Pop Style" that came before Drake debuted a new Throne-less "Pop Style" on OVO Radio. So, perhaps Manila was the first and last time we hear the song from Kanye.

Kanye West Says The Taylor Swift Line On "Famous" Helped Him Beat Writer's Block
After performing "Famous" for the first time in the Philippines, Kanye West segues into an emotional speech about overcoming writer's block, a battle that began after his run-in with Taylor Swift at the 2009 VMAs.
"That night when I went on stage was the beginning of the end of my life. Lady GaGa cancelled the tour the next day. You know what night I'm talking about," Kanye West told the crowd during his headlining show at The Paradise International Music Festival in the Philippines last night after performing "Famous" for the first time ever. The night in question is the night of September 13, 2009, when Taylor Swift won the award for Best Female Video at the VMAs was interrupted by Kanye during her acceptance speech, who told her, "I'mma let you finish," before telling the audience that "Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time."
The controversial moment was brought up again after Kanye released his latest album, The Life of Pablo, as on the track "Famous," which was recently named Pablo's first single, Kanye opened with the lines: "For all my Southside n*ggas that know me best / I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that bitch famous." That line ended up leading to another uncomfortable award show moment, as Swift seemed to target Kanye during her acceptance speech for Album of the Year at this year's Grammys.
After giving the inaugural performance of "Famous" in Manila last night, Kanye explained how "Famous," and its opening line in particular, helped him rid himself of writer's block. "What I wanted you to know the whole time," he told the crowd, repeating the song's final lyric, "in the spirit of Nina Simone -- in the spirit of real artists -- this is the song that broke the writer's block for me."
He went on to relive his infamous 2009 stage-crash, which he feels was an example of him saying "what everybody else was thinking." "So if I get in trouble for saying the truth," he continued, "what's being said the rest of the time?" He also revealed that he "fought to make that ["Famous"] the first single off of Pablo."
"It's really overwhelming for me to perform that song for the first time and for y'all to react to it that way," said an emotional Kanye. "If you don't mind, I'd like to do the song one more time." They didn't.
